I worked at CSIRO Aspendale from 1959 to 1993 and took part in many field expeditions to study the physics of the weather. These expeditions were held at Woomera, Lameroo, Hay, Daly Waters, Brisbane, Moree and at places in country Victoria. For many years I operated the weather radar at Aspendale studying the behaviour of cold fronts, showers and thunderstorms. Long range weather forecasting was a private hobby of mine since 1964 and I have been told by many farmers in NSW and Victoria that I have been helpful since 1970 especially around Coonabarabran, Moree, Dubbo and Bega. I have 3 adult children, Anthony, Robyn and David and six grandchilden, Benjamin, Jessica, Joshua, Grace, Ryan and Aadrita and three great grandchildren, Lilly, Jack and Hudson. I lived in Coonabarabran for many years since my wife's passing 17 years ago. My other strengths are cycling and competitive card play, bridge, 500 and solo. In just over 50 years I have pedalled almost 750000 kms. It all started in August 1966 when my wife, Margery bought a bike in Frankston and asked me to ride it home. I completed 10000 kms of cycling last Thursday for this year for the 38th successive year but it's been hard going since late 2013. I may call it quits next year after various health problems.
